Meetings Programme 2019

MeetingsVisitors are welcome to attend a monthly meeting to sample the WI experience! Please contact us through our contact page if you’d like any further information or you are welcome to just attend on the day. All meetings start at 7.30pm at St.Elizabeth’s Church Hall, Aspull and are held on the 2nd Monday of the month.






Monday 14th January.
‘Resolutions then Bingo and Quiz’
Competition: Your New Year Resolution – the more fun or funnier the better

Monday 11th February.
‘Blood Bikers’
A talk about this voluntary group.
Competition: Bikes – a photo, or a written memory of bikes and biking. Did you have a bike as a child that you remember fondly or fell off?

Monday 11th March.
‘History of the WI’.
Speaker: Gill Brown
Competition: What does the WI mean to you? Just a sentence or two

Monday 8th April.
‘History of Clarks Shoes’
Speaker: Sandra Nolan
Competition: A decorated or decorative shoe. This could be a shoe you have decorated, a card shaped like a shoe, a drawing of a shoe, a photograph of shoes etc.

Monday 13th May.
‘Spinning a Yarn’
Speaker: Pat Oxley
Competition: An item made with yarn. This could be a felted item, knitted or any other use of wool, cotton or other type of yarn.

Monday 10th June.
‘The Roman Road in Aspull’
Speaker: Patrick Maloney
Competition: An item of historic memorabilia from the area. (1970’s or before)

Monday 8th July.
‘Strawberry Tea, Walk & Quiz’
Competition: Flower competition – an arrangement in a jam jar of common wild flowers.

Monday 12th August.
‘My Husband’s Aunt Eliza’.
Speaker: Gwynth Millard
Competition: Relatives – a fun or loving photo of a relative or family group

Monday 9th September.
‘Chutney & Cheer’
Speaker: Melanie Latham
Competition: A jar of preserves – jams, chutney, marmalade, pickles – if it grows and you have preserved it – enter it Home made wine not excluded.

Monday 16th October.
‘Workshop or Games Evening’
Competition: Make a first, second or third prize rosette – these will be used for future competitions

Monday 11th November.
Annual Meeting with Supper
No competition this month.

Monday 9th December.
Christmas Party.
Time and venue to be confirmed later.
